Built in 1922, the Olowalu Plantation House is one of Maui’s most popular wedding locations.
The estate can accommodate large wedding parties as well as corporate events and photo shoots.
The house offers a spacious lanai overlooking a large oceanfront lawn. This lends a beautiful backdrop for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The house has furnished rooms for the wedding parties to dress. There is also a spacious kitchen appointed with commercial grade amenities available to licensed caterers.
The sugar plantation consisted of 700 acres, worked mainly by immigrants, and was a working plantation with the last harvest in 1998. The sugar mill was constructed in the 1870’s to process the harvested sugar cane, along with the landing for sugar transportation, passenger transit, mail and freight. The mill was dismantled in 1933, however, the ruins are still visible from the house.
From ancient times, Olowalu was considered a place of refuge, or pi’u honua, by Hawaiians. Many often describe it as a magical place. When Pioneer Mill sold the property, the new owners were determined to maintain the historical sites and provide community access.
As a result, the property is available for special events.
